MASTERTON NOTES.
, (fcrom Our Special Correspondent.) Mastcrton, September 19. The Masterton Methodist • Young Women's Bible Class aro holding a concert and "social" this evening, in aid of tho class funds. A number of local athletes are at present in active, training for the Now Zealand Physical Culture Association Championships, which are to be held hero on October 10. The Masterton Boxing Club hold their third. annual championship meeting on Wednesday next. Competitors are expected from tho whole of the surrounding districts. It is probable that tho Waingawa bacon factory will bo in full swing early this season, and that a considerable number of pigs will be put through the works. At a meeting of the Masterton Agricultural High- School Committee the Rev. A. T. Thompson was elected chairman, and Mr. H. M. Boddington secretary. It was decided to canvass for members of the association, and to prepare a requisition from parents for presentation to the Education Board.
There was a good attendance of mem-bers-of the Nursing Division of St. John Ambulance Brigade last evening, when Dr. Helen Cowie delivered the final of a series of lectures which she has given during the winter months. The half-yearly circuit sessions of the Supreme Court open here on Monday next. There is a fairly lengthy civil list, but only two cases appear on the criminal calendar, and these come from outside districts. -
