THE NAVY LEAGUE.
■ A meeting of the local executive of the Navy League was held at (he Chamber rif Commerce Inst night, Mr. .T. B. Harcourt occupying, the choir. A riunntity of correspondenco with London headquarters and tlio various New Zealand branches was submitted, and the hon. secretary's replies thereto approved. It. was reported that the. Auckland brauches had been resuscitated, and that books and details bud hewn .supplied by tho Wellington branch,. Tbb Stops taken in regard to the frozen wreath for 'Nelsons Mouiiracnt, Trafalgar Square, on October 21 were approved. It was decided that the Subject for this year's Navy League cssuy competition should be "Why the British Empiro Should Possess a Supremo Nnvy." For the Nnvy Leagno Annual Conference, fixed for September 12, Messrs. C. It. Smith, li. Dorroch, and C. W. Palmer were appointed delegates. The remits submitted by the various branches to be represented were discussed. Accounts were ■passed for payment aggregating .£32 IDs. ■Id. ' The hon. secretary intimated thai: lowing to increased pressure of private business he would like, to be relieved of his secretarial dulics.
