Mr. Woods, of peppermint cure fam«, has come to Australia purposely to protest against the restrictions placed on patent medicines. In tho course of con vernation with Dr. Ashbnrton Thompson, the Commissioner inquiring into the 6ale of food and drugs, Mr. Woods denied Dr. .Thompson's contention that people bought patent medicines for the sake of the alcohol contained in them. He declared that in his 25 years' experience he did not know of a proprietary medicine being taken for its alcoholic effect.
