\Tho Mayor of Wellington (Mr IX M'J.areu) was the speaker at tho « « service for boys at tho. Boys' Institute, Arthur Street, last evening. There wero over 70 boys present and Mr. 51 Urcns subject was "True 'Citizenship. He said that when Christ prayed "Thy h"isf° m Come," His prayer involved the destruction of everything which degraded a cilj and meant, the building of a new cit . That, which made a city great and noble was not so much its extensive wliaryes or its largo buildings or amassed weallli, but rnlher the presence within it of m«n and women, boys nnd girls of. great character. Tho boys were citizens in the sense that they wero part of tho life of the city. The Mayor then urged the bovs- to use every talent which they possessed. It .was absolutely true in everyday life that "unto him that hath shall . bo' given." Ho further urged thnt they should expend their abilities in he direction of social service and emphasised with the truth that p.vmpnthy and love arc tho great; things in life, the address was listened to with attention and at its conclusion the Mayor was hankod for his active, interest in the institution.
