The Now Zealand Government lins received word that the Commonwealth Minister for Customs has temporarily modified the importation restrictions on New Zealand potatoes to a slight extent. The following aro now the conditions under which potatoes may be imported ;—That the potntoes aro; accompanied by an official certificate fronj the country of origin identifying the shipment and certifying that they have been inspected and show no signs of disease; that they are packed in the country of origin in clean, new bags; that the bags, crates, or other packages are marked with tho name of the country of origin; that upon inspection at tho port of disharge in Australia the potatoes are found free from disease, and are ko certified by a plant rjuauintine cer. Authority to import has to Ik ol> tained from the Mimstei.
