ITS EXISTENCE DENIED, By Telesraph—Press A6sociation— Copyright Sydney, September 13. Mr. O. G. Malkow , , Messrs. Swift and Co.'s representative, in his evidence before the Food Commission, denied that there was any Meat Trust in America. There wns no connection between Armour's,. Swift's aud the other big copanies. Tho business to bo started in Brisbane would be entirely Swift's. There was no English capital in it. Ho declined to say, wliether his firm intended to start business in other States. It wns not going to do local business at present, but he did not know what it might have to do. Ho was prepared to tell the Commission anything it desired to know; the company had nothing to hide. Tho witness accounted for the increased price of meat by the increase in population and prosperity of tho United States, and the consequent reduction of exports. A WATCHFUL EYE. Sydney, September 13. Tho Premier (Mr. M'Gowcn) states that, in view of rumours, a watchful eye is being kept to prevent. tlio possibility of tho Beef Trust getting hold of the meat industry of New South Wales.
