Dawson, president and secretary, respectively, of tho New Zealand Alliance). Messrs. Spragg and Dawson explained that tho Alliance were seeking through various temperance organisations to secure pledges, from 1500 to 3009 electors in each constituency not to vote for any candidate for Parliamentary honours who -would not promise to support tho simple- majority for tho liconsinfj question, or at least a material reduction of the present handicap. 'It wae etated that the Alliance could get nothing further from tho past or present Parliaments and that decisive steps would have to be taken if its object was to be achieved. The conference unanimouely agreed with the principle' of tho Alliance's proposals.
