AVIATION FATALITY.
~ : B BRITISH OFFICERS KILLED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, September 10. Lieutenants C. Bettington and E. Hotch-, kiss were killed while acroplaning at Oxford. There was an explosion, and machine and aviators fell from a great hoight. Lieutenant Hotchkiss was piloting the machine, a British monoplane, which recently won a War Office prize of .£SOO. During the descent the aeroplane backed sharply and one of the planes collapsed. The final entry in the pilot's diary reads: "Over Oxford, struck a rainstorm; very —-" The' unfinished word is presumably "windy." (Rec. September 11, 8 p.m.) London, Septomber 11. The late Lieutenants Bettington and Hotchkiss belonged to the Flying Corps, and were proceeding to the inauoeuvres. They were volplaning after stopping their engine. One man was thrown out of the aeroplane and fell into a stream.
