Sir Georga Roid, High Commissioner in London for tho Australian Commonwealth, speaking at a banquet to Mr. Borden, Prime Minister of Canada, who has just returned from England, said that the Canadian Ministers when in London had been admitted to the very arcana of Empire, and had been trusted with secrets of the highest importance. They had been mado to feel everywhere that they were members of the Imperinl Brotherhood, j. When one thought of tho great stretches of seas that divided as well as united tho Empire, one could not but be affected by the thought that the great problem of the Empire was its defence. But the race that built up that Empire would be able to maintain it in tho future. (Loud cheers,) Those who talked of the mother of the nations as dead or dying were entirelv mi<tn.<en. "If peril comes," added Sir George, "Britons will bo true to their stock." (Cheers.)
