THE WAIHI STRIKE.
9 (By TelegTaph.-PresJ Association,) ' Waihi, September 10. Since tho advent of an adequate force of police, the condition of affairs in Waihi and Wailcino has become almost normal. The arbitratiqnists going to and from work at AVaikino are not now, interfered with, the following-up tactics of the strikers being practically abandoned. Enginedrivers, however, when in the streets, are still attended by strikers, and, in some cases, also by the wives of strikers. On these occasions the police arc always present. There is plenty of surfaco work offering by the iVaihi Company, and meanwhile a good deal of employment is given at Waikino in the general'deaning and overhauling of crushing and treatment plants, also in connection with tho company's electric transmission lino from Hora Hora. Yesterday about thirty fresh hands w.ero put on at Waikino, and two or three more, this morning, making about fifty hancU iii all now'engagetK- 11 ; Hayward's picture show is being boycotted by the strikers owing to the fact of a few engine-drivers attending, tho strikers objecting to associate in the same building with them. Everything is quiet hero and at Waikino to-day. Mr. J. Cullen. Commissioner of Police, attends daily at Waikino and Waihi, his 'headquarters being Waihi. To-morrow some fifty strikers are summoned to appear at tho Court to answer charges of using threatening language, assault, and following enginedrivers.
