DR. RUSSELL'S CASE.
HEAVY BAIL FIXED AND MET. ' (Br Toleeraph—Pr«i» Anoclatlon.) Christchurch, September 10. Dr. Chas. Jas. Russell, who was arrested on Thursday last on a charge of havins, on or about Juno 28, unlawfully used an instrument on a woman, answered hia bail at the Magistrate's Court this morn,ing. Mr. Bishop, S.M., was on tho bench. Tho magistrate explained that it would bo remembered that accused's appearance was- in accordance- with an arrangement made at tho time of his previous remand. Ho would be remanded again until Monday. Accused waa not represented by counsel, and, in answer to lub Worship, said that his surety was not in ,Court—ho was in Wellington. Ho (accused) had two other sureties, however, who would supply tho necessary bail. ,«,.„. His Worship expressed himsolf satisfied with this arrangement, and bail was granted accused in .£4OO and another of JMOO, or two of JC2OO. This was forthcoming in one sum by Thos. Leslie Haus.
