HOCKEY.

RAIN STOPS BULLER MATCH. Rain necessitated the abandonment of tho representative hockey match, Buller v. Wednesday Association, when the game was but half finished, at Knrori yesterduy afternoon. The game at the start was up and down-field, but afterwards tho piny was all in favour of Buller. The visitors had a good deal of hard luck in not scoring, but off-side had a good deal to do with this. Wellington presently rallied, and M'Ewan getting the ball passed it to Jackson, who only missed tho net by a few inches. During the first spell, which only lasted twenty-five minutes, Buller compiled three goals and Wellington two. Lyons secured Wellington's goals, while Egan (2) and Folia scored for Buller. On play being resumed, the rain became much heavier, and it was eventually decided to abandon the game. Mr. M'Kenzio was the referee. The teams, were as follow:— , Buller.—Goalkeeper: A. Davies. Fullbacks: W. Davis, G. Newlands. Halfbacks: A. Bottom,'J. Bowden, and M'Kenna. Forwards Walker, Fair, Falla, Mann, and Egan. Wednesday team.—Goalkeeper: Starr. Full-backs: K. Spiers and Baker. Halfbacks: Pointon, Clementson, and Sherwood. Forwards: Jackson, J. M'Ewan, Lyons, Brooker, and Hay.
