Sergeant; Fitzgerald and Constable Sleuth Kavd <!virfciieft a.s to having obtained a. samplo of schnapps from tlio Masonic Hotel. ' Dr. J. S. Maolaurin, Dominion analyst, deposed that lie had annlysed tho robuapps handed in by Sergeant Fitzgerald and also a wlidlesahi wiinplo of Wolfe's schnapps. Tlio composition of llio wim|)lo from Dobson's wn.s entirely dilTerent from the other, and in witness's opinion tlio liquors could not possibly have lieen llio same. Tlio snino constituent elements wo.ro present in each, though in dilTerent proportions. There was moro water in tlio retail xmnplo (Dobson's) than in llio wholesale sample. ' -Mr. Gray submitted that l.ho information ought to bo dismissed. Ho Raid that "trade description" did not mean "trado mark," and that while number, quantity, measure, gauge, and weight camo under tlio heading of "trade description," quality did not. There was no evidence as to whero the two samples wero made, and no evidence as to whether or not there wns a- standard of quality. No ono had taken -upon himself to say that the sample from Dobson's was not Wolfe's schnapps. Decision was reserved. OTHEIi, CARES. Clarence Adolphus Lo Sour and Gcorgo Phillips were fined 10=. each, with costs 75., for having been found on. licensed premises after closing hours. ~ Frederick Charles Diamond and John I Boyle were each fined X 3 for having broken a prohibition order. For. having disobeyed maintenance orders made by the Court, Duncan M'Farlaiio was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, George Bohert Watts to seven days' imprisonment, and Norman Ellis was fined ,£3. An application bv Emma Potter for separation from her husband, John Arthur Potter, on the ground of cruelty, was granted. An order was made to the effect that the husband should pay 15s. per week towards his wife's maintenance. Jessie Burns was sentenced to 21 days' imprisonment for having committed a certain act in a public street. Stephen Hansen was fined JC2 for having committed £1 3s. worth of damage to tho windows of Lum Joy's premises. Hansen was ordered to make restitution. Thomas Ivprson was fined £i for having assaulted T.um .Toy. Archibald West was sentenced to two months' imprisonment on a charge of his bsing an idle and disorderly person. For insobriety, Rose Fraser was fined 65., and Eobert James Headland JEI. CIVIL ACTION. (Before Dr. M'Arthur, S.M.). ' ENGINEERS' CLAIM. Andersons, Limited, engineers, Chrietchurch, sued Dalgety and Company, Ltd., stock and station agents, Wellington, claiming .£63 Gs. lid. for materials furnished and labour done in and about a lift in Dalgety's Wellington premises. Jlr. T. A. Neave appeared for the plaintiffs, and Mr. A. Blair for the defendant Decision in tho caso was reserved.
