SLEEPING OUT.
■ THE SMALL BOY'S ESCAPADE. It must bo a rather original bent of mind which impels a youngster x>f 13 years to sleep out in. Wellington at this season of tho year. Nevertheless, a boy of the age stated was before Mr. W. G. Hiddell, S.M., yesterday morning for the magistrate to investigate an information that he had been found sleeping in the open air. ' It; was staled that tho boy had been liviitj* with a Wellington family for some time. His mother had not cared for him for a considerable timo, and the people- who had practically adopted him had kept him out of charity. Quito recently a craving for adventure had overcome him, and, armed with a gun, he hod left the roof which had been his home nnd shelter for many a happy day. With the weapon for a companion ho had wandered about Wellington for several days, and had slept out, or in stables, by night. At length, fortunately, he got into the hands of the police. It is considered that the boy has got out of control, and arrangements wjjl probably bo made to have him placed nn a training farm. In th'o meantime his case stands adjourned till September 23
