M'Callum, are making their present visit to England and Europe on account ot Mr. M Callum's health. Later on they intend visiting relatives in Scotland and Jersey, and making a tour of tho Continent. Mrs. E. Barlthrop, of Wellington, was one of tho New Zealand representatives at tho St. John Ambulance Review, held by the King at Windsor. Since then she has been in tho Lakes District, and at present is in London. This week she g.oes to tho south of , England, later on to the 'Midland counties and Ireland. She expects to return to New Zealand towards tho odd of the year.

Mr. and Mis.'W. M. Pratt and itiss Elsie I'rntt left Christchurch in April, and travelled via Sydney, Qneenslnnd ports, Timor, Slanila, Chinese ports and ■Honolulu, to Sun Francisco, and after a holiday in. the States arrived at Southampton on July J3. They leave in September for New Zealand via Suez and Singapore, and after a short stop in Australia expect to arrive homo for Christmas.

Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Luscombe, of Canterbury, and their youngest son, have spent five weeks with Mr. Luscombe's father nt Hoiulhuin, North Devon, during which time their motor-ear arrived from New Zealand, and they re-explored their native land, after an absence of thirtyeight years, visiting among other places Bournemouth, Southampton, and Guildford, They are now staying 'in London for about a month.

Captain E. ,T. S. Seddon, who is-tem-porarily attached to the British Army, at Aldershot, for a period of training, underwent an operation for appendicitis on Monday last at King Edward's Hospital, Grosvenor Square. Mr. and Mrs. Haywood Mirams, of 'Wellington, arrived three weeks ago, and will shortly take a motor trip through tho south and west of England, touring north to Wales, and back to London. After some weeks in London they go to.Paris, and, probably, Germany, then piok up nt .Genoa ii steamer for Colombo, where they will remain a few days, and go on by next niuil steamer to New Zealand.

Mr. Arthur Alexander, the young pianist from Dunedin, who has distinguished himself 'here, has just been awarded the coveted prize in tho Academy, tho Dore prize tor general excellence, assiduity, and industry, and hits also received the'Chnppell Gold Medal for excellence in piano playing. lie leuves for Vienna and Berlin in September.

Mr. mid Mrs. J. Bishop Rutland, of Christehureh, who were married in Sydney last year, nre now on a visit to England.

The twenty Maoris who chose to remain behind when the main tronpo returned to New Zealand at the end of last yew, havo been practising assiduously since, and this week started to give special Maori entertainments in England, ojwning a season nt Tunlridge Wells on tho 2!) th. Mncdonald, after having stayed at Genoa nearly a forlnight with Mrs. hoene. wife of the Consul-General at Genoa, mid sister of Miss Xorthcole. They stayed a few davs in l'avis, and went on to a brother, tlie Hev. Hugh Norlheote, formerly chaplain of (hi; Waiipamii Boys' Collego, who now lives at Boulogne. They are now visitiuft Miss Xorthcot*'s molirf, Mrs. M(iwl)l'ay Nol'llu-ole. who is spending some time in Ofu-oli. They hope to return to London for the winter.
