Spotswood, of the Treasury Department, who has been in poor health, left for Melbourne yesterday on three mouths' leave of absence. The Rev. R. B. Blnckmore, who has been compelled to relinquish charge of the Methodist cause in Otaki and district, left thie week for Auckland. Mr. Walter Tripe, secretary of tho Gear Meat Company was a passenger to Sydney by tho Maitai yesterday. The death has occurred at Suva of Mr. Frederick D'Arcy, youngest sou of the late Mr. and Mrs. T. C. D'Arcy. The deceased, who was formerly a resident of Masterton, died from blood-poisoning. Mr. IT. Rawson, of tho Bank of Now South' Wales, Wellington, has received notice of his transference to Sydney. Mr. Rawson leaves next Friday for the latter city. Mr. John Frasor of Otautau has been appointed chairman of tho Southland Education Board for the ensuing year,—Press Association. . . Mr. Beaumont Smith, manager of "Tiny Town," arrived from the south yesterday.
