ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
AN INFANT'S DEATH. An inquest was held by Dr. M'ArfbUr, S.M., iyesterday; concerning, of the infant child born'at "iTollestb'n Street. Tho verdict was that death had been occasioned through the child being prematurely boru. FALL FROM A WAGON. A young man named Walter Taylor, residing at Ngahauranga, was admitted to tho Hospital yesterday morning, suffering from injuries received whilst unloading meat from a wagon. It appears that the horso attached to'the vehicle tooTc fright at a piece, of flying paper, thus causing Taylor to fall to- tho ground. The horse trod on his hand, and tho wheel of tho wagon passed over his side. He was reported to ba progressing favourably last cveuiug.
LOWERING A GUILLOTINE. A ..rather serious accident occurred at 2.30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the scene of tho recent inro in Messrs. Whitcombo and Tombs's premises, Lambton Quay. Work in connection with the removing of tho damaged machinery has been going on for some days, and yesterday afternoon a particularly heavy piece of machinery—a paper guillotine—was being lowered to (ho ground floor of the building. While it was descending. _ A workman named James Findley met with injuries to his hip. It appears that ho was standing on a lorry directing the lowering operations, and was also holding on' to the machine with one hand. It swung round, carrying' him off tho lorry, and jambing him against a pole, which was being used as a derrick. Dr. Herbert was called, and upon examination it was found that there were severe bruises to the left thigh, back, and hips. The injured man was removed to tho hospital in tho ambulance. I
