MIRAMAR TRAMS.

VARIOUS MATTERS DEALT WITH, At tho meeting of tho Miramar Boi> ough Council last night the following re* .solutions were moved by tho Mayor (Mr. H. M'Leod): 1. That an estimate bo pro pared of the cost of connecting Miramar Wharf tramway with the electric tramway system' at •Miramar Avcnuo intersection. 2. That information be obtained as to the facilities wjiich tho city is propared to extend in connection with bulk freightage over city linos, and tho uso of sidings. The following letter from tho Evans Bay Timber Company was then read:— "We would bo glad to bo informed if it is practicable for timber discharged on the Miramar Wharf to bo delivered in our yard, Kilbirnic, by using tho tramline. We understand the borough has before it tho question of linking up the wharf with tho main tramline for uso within its boundaries, and our inquiry is mado with the object of ascertaining whether tho council will consider tho extension to Kilbirnie."

The Mayor said that, besides the Evans Bay Timber Company, there was another timber company in Kilbirnio, and, also, a coal business, both of which would probably bo, interested in the same niattor. The question raised something _in connection with tho City Council which would need to be arranged—there would need to bo some co-operation between the City Council and tho Miramar Borough Council. It would be necessary for the Miramar Counoil to approach the City Council to ascertain to what extent the city body could meet the suburban body. It was with this object, £hc Mayor said, that he had moved his proposal. < The motion, was carried. Tho Wellington .City Council wrote stating that it would bo prepared to run the city cars over the borough lines, the borough supplying the power, providing that sufficient provision was made for all traffic within the borough boundaries, including rush and holiday and subject to a reduction of the car mileage rate to tho extent of twopence and to a fresh agreement being entered into.
