POULTRY AND CAGE BIRDS.
The annual meeting of the Wellington I'oultry, Pigeon, and Canary Society was held on Wednesday night. Tlio annual report, which was adopted, congratulated members upon the success of tho society's operations for the past year. It was pointed out in the report that this was the only year of the society's existence that no donations had been collected to supplement the funds, this being regarded as a sign that, if the society were run on business lines, it would pay, the more especially as the society had been very unfortunate in striking bad weather ier the. show. The entries had showed an improvement on Inst year. Messrs. Foglia and Copp were thanked for their donations of special prizes. The balance-sheet showed that the receipts for the vcar had been £\(U 10s. (id., of which .£7;! 13s. (id. was received in entrance fees. In the payments Ml) (is. was included for special, prizes.
A motion to convert the'society into a club was defeated by a large majority. ]t was decided to hold quarterly meetings of members. The election of officers' resulted as follows:—Patron, his Worship the Mayor; president. Mr. ti. l'inn; vice-presidents, Messrs. John Martin, G. E. Eearn, T. Dtiig, and A. Simpson; trustees, Messrs. T. ■luniiesnn and A. Simpson; auditor, Mr. H. A. Clolil; secretary, Mr. E.Gallican (subject to his acceptance); treasurer. Mr. \V. Madlev; committee, Messrs, A. Thomas, .1. V.'liiilor, C. Brattle, E. Copp, J. Copp. If. Bailey. A. Staples, (1. Stairniiinil, A. Kean, T. C. Uawson, W. llrunnotr. and 11. Hastie.
