FEILDING NEWS.
The death look place at midnight on Tuesday night of Mr. W. Benson, of Cunninghams. Deceased had been suffering for a long time with lung trouble, and had recently spent same lime in the Palmerston Hospital. He had later-returned to Feilding. Deceased had been farming at Cunninghams for some years. He leaves a Widow and one child,
Jlr. 11. Gillies's butter factory at Colyt-in was totally destroyed by fire on Tuesday night. Air. Jns. Lang saw the fire from the Colyton corner, and he and several others hastened to the scene. When they reached 'the factory, about a quarter of a mile away, flames were bursting out through tho roof and wall?, and it was impossible to save anything. The factory was only a small one, but the plant, was valuable, and the damage by the fire will be considerable. Mr. Gillie?, the owner, lives in Palmerston, and went homo as usual yesterday after work. It is under<tood tli" 1 'be fiiclary was injured, but Ihe amount is not available.
