THE CANTERBURY FEELING. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Christchurch, September i. I A meeting of representatives of local authorities and other organisations of North' Canterbury at a conference tonight discussed the position re the Otira tunnel, arising out of tho contractors' petition to be relieved of tho work. The meeting adopted unanimously a motion impressing upon the Government the enormous importance of tho West Coast railway, and urging that there should be no delay in the completion. A representative deputation was appointed to present a rcr solution to tho Government urging the completion of tho work.
