Mr. Hughes, Canadian Minister for Militia and Defence, interviewed in London, said that, although Canada did not require the present universal training such as circumstances imposed in Australia, ho was convinced that even if war was abolished it would .still pay to give military training, inculcating discipline, co-oporation, and self-control. ,1 The Canadian cadet system was flourishing. Every man, added Mr. Hughes, should be able to shoot and manoeuvre.-
