Small Philanthropists. A very successful sale of flowers, homemade sweets, and cakes was held by tho pupils of All's. Francis's School on Friday afternoon, in aid of the fund for the Rev. Mother Aubert's Homes. The schoolroom had been prettily decorated for the occasion with flowers and foliage, and the arrangements were all in the hands of the children, under the supervision of Mrs. Francis. Everything was sold, and as a result the sum of .£!) was realised, a fact of which the children might well be proud.
A Surprise Party. On Friday evening a "surprise" party, about sixty of their. friends, descended upon the residence of Mrs. Sherriff and family, 111 Tinakori Tioad. Like most "surprise" parlies nowadays, it was admirably organised, nothing having been left to chance, and a most enjoyable evening was spent in dancing and bridge, the drawing and dining-rooms being given over to the former, and another room to th& flatter. Supper was served in the breakfast-room, which, like all the others, had been prettily decorated with spring flowers and asparagus fern. Mrs. Sherriff wore a gown of blue silk, relieved swith cream lace; Miss Sherriff was in white satin; Miss Hilda Sherriff wore saxe blue charmeuse, with an overdress of goldspotted ninon; and Miss .Audrey Sherriff was in a frock of pale pink floral ninon, edged with bands of pink satin. Among the guests were: Mrs. J. Dykes, wearing black lace, with a tunic of black jetted net; Mrs. Levvey, in lilac radianta with silver trimming and fringe; Miss Wise, in black charmeuse and ninon overdress; Miss Drisooll, heliotrope ninon over charmeuse; Mrs. Cooper, cream satin with tunic of net embroidered with mother of pearl spangles; Mrs. Blake. Mrs. Blackmail, Mrs. Holmes, Mrs. and Miss Seaton, Miss Wise, Miss Rawusley, Miss Thornton, Miss Barnett, Miss Watkins, Mifs Ross, the Misses Raploy'(2), Miss Wnrdrop, the Misses Rix-Trott (2). Miss St. George, Miss Warner, Miss-Hnjky, and the Messrs. Blackman, Levvey, 'Dykes, Wise, Rawnsley, Porter, Ottcrson. Ksskruge (2), C'olumb, Wardrop (2), Mj£|!;ji]d, Bennett, Busby, Strickland, Wiggins, Hunt, Blennerhassett, Dobbie, D. Morris, Sir Kenneth Douglas, and otliers. The music was supplied by Mr. Piatt, and extras were played by Miss Watkins and Mr. Dykes..
