SHOCKING DUNEDIN TRAGEDY.
THE QUARREL AND AFTER.

Crescent, St. Clair, at midday to-day, t'no cause being a shooting affray which look l'laco at the residence of Robert Turner. It appears that Percy John Turner had some worth with his father, Robert Turner, this morning before going to work, the altercation being duo to tho father having been out of employment for some time. The sou ordered the father out of the houso, and assaulted him, and then went away. Tho father, incensed by the son's conduct, laid in wait for him whea he came home, and shot him in tho side.
Dr. Lindon was summoned, and ho ordered tho removal of tho victim to tho hospital, where it was found that the injuries were of such a character as to necessitate an operation. Tho bullet had entered the left side a few inches below tho armpit, and had penetrated some ol tho organs. Tho bullet was extracted, When it was discovered that tliero was littlo hopo of tho young man's recovery, tlie police mado arrangements to lmvo his depositions taken, but this, however, was out of tho question, as ho was in an unconscious condition.
Robert Franklyn Turner, an cider brother, said that he heard tho report of a gun come from tho direction of tho stable, and saw. liis brother fall. Hii father then rushed out of tho stable with the gun in his hand. Ho had never seen tho gun before.
After perpetrating tho crime, Turner ran to the street, where ho was met by a neighbour named Ross, who took tho gun from.'him. They then Trent to tho South Duncdin polico station, where Turner gavo himself up, saying that he had shot his son in tho ami. Ho subsequently denied any intention to kill his son. Percy Turner succumbcd to his injuries at G. 40 to-night. Ho was employed as a commercial traveller, A charge of murder is to bo brought against Robert Turner.
