NEW EMIGRATION LEAGUE.
FOR SERVICE MEN. One of the practical uses of tho Overpeas Club and its branches throughout tho Empire is to make Englishmen of the right stamp feel at home, and to try and help thein to do well, no matter where they may bo. As an illustration of what a power the club is developing, the local secretary (Captain Barclay) lias received a communication from Mr. Eleanor Seamniell, F.R.G.S., secretary of the Naval and Military League, of England, requesting his interest in connection with the scheme of .emigration on which the Leagno is founded. The League, which has the Duke of Connaught for its patron, and Earl Roberts for its president, has for its object a plan to assist ex-Army and Nnvy men to emigrate to tho oversea Dominions, and if they are in needy circumstances, and still fulfil the renuiromenta —good record, good physique, good character, and an aptitude for colonial life— the'Leaguo assists them financially with a loan, to be repaid as opportunity serves. Captain Barclay has written to tho secretary of the League, undertaking to do all in his power to assist snch emigrants. Already he has been advised of some now on their way to New Zealand—middleaged men with good records —who will be met on their arrival, and put in tho way of any work which may be offering.
