PETONE CLUB'S REPORT. Following is the annual report of th« Petono District Cricket Club, to be presented by the secretary (Mr. A. Bennett) at the forthcoming annual meeting:— "Tlio. committee, in placing the third annual report before members for the past season, desire to congratulate the club 011 tho success attained during the season. • "Tho first eleven played eight matches, winning four and losing four, scoring 14 points and finishing third in tho championship. This must bo considered very satisfactory, for it will bo remembered it was decided to remain in tlio junior competition j but as tho association desired Petone to play senior, tho committee agreed to do so under their own terms, namely, that tho club bo not called upon to pay any moro additional entrance fees; that wo be allowed to enter teams for the third grade competition only, and that we play matches on our own grounds. These conditions were agreed to, and the club entered senior, and by so doing there can bo no doubt that better cricket was obtained and moro interest was taken in tho games. Better results are looked for in the coining season. "The third class teams were not satisfactory. The. committee entered two teams, but through the season it was found difficult to' place full teams in the field owing to several players withdrawing. "A complete record of matches cannot bo placed before members owing to ono of tlio books becoming lost. The B's played cloven matches, won six, and lost five. . "Two centuries were scored dttring the season, and Messrs. S. Brice (127 not out) •and H. Nunu (132 not out) are to be congratulated on compiling same. These players are also, to be congratulated on their gaining placcs in tho representative teams. "During the season a team _ captained by Mr. A. Dalgleisli visited Picton with the intention, of playing two or three games, but through bad weather and a misunderstanding of the Pioton and Blenheim players, only ono game was played, tho club losing by 44 runs on the first innings, time preventing us from winning outright. Games were also played at Upper Hntt and at tho Mental Hospital, a very enjoyable outing being afforded the players by tho latter team. Wo also played tho Catholic Club, but got Tather a sovero drubbing at their hands." , "Tho finances ■ are fairly ,satisfactory, the assets over liabilities being X2O. "The thanks of the club are due to .Messrs. H. .t. Palmer. J. Lynskey, and the Workingmen's Club for donations, to Mr. J Smith (caretaker of tho Recreation Ground), for his very obliging assistance, and to those gentlemen of tho committee for the way they have worked in the club's interests."
