THE NEW TRAM FARES.
*— AN INCREASE IN REVENUE. Contrary to tho expectations of those, people who considered that tho rearrangcluent of tho city tramway tcctious and fares would bo attended by a drop in tho revenue, consequent upon the boycotting of at least one of (ho now Mictions by those who preferred to walk than pay an extra penny, the revenue for the first week of iho new schedule shows an increase ol .£433 15s. over the amount received for tho corresponding week of tho previous year, tho grand total, .£2815 Ss. -Id., being almost a record for the service. This is regarded as being highly satisfactory by tho Tramways Department, especially in view cf tho fine weather, conducive to a little extra walking, which has been experienced lately.
