LONDON PERSONALS. London, July 18. Mr. Pitman, of Christchurch, is here for the season. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cros3, of Christ church; are at present in London. Mr. and Mrs. \V'. J. titration,oi" Hawko's Bay, arrived in Loudon a few days ago. Mr. Isaac Coatcs, a former Mayor ol Hamilton, is at present in England on a business visit. Miss Nita Knubley, of . Timaru, has spont some time motoring in dilfercnl parts of England. Mrs. R. Waudell and .Miss Muriel Waddell, of Duncdin, are at present in London, and staying in Bedford Placo. Mr. J. Duder, of Auckland, is at present studying at the King Edward \*li Nautical School for his chief officer's examination. Mrs. Perry, of. Hawko's Bay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P.. Donnelly, is' in England with her three children, whom she intends to have educated here. Mr. and Mrs. C. Day, of Pencarrow, Tamahere, who have been in England for a oou'plo of montlis, left on their return to New Zealand by the Malwa last week. Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Meares, of Christchurch, aro at the Whitehall Hotel, Bloorusbnry Square. Mr. C. Wray Palliscr and Mrs. Pallisei will be among the guests at the garden party to be givqn by their Majesties the King and Quoen at Windsor Castle today. ■ Mrs. J. Ulric Collins, of Auckland, wno has been staying with her sister-in-law, Mre. Quick, of St.Cyrs, Exeter, for trie last few weeks, returned to London on Monday. Bishop Wallis, lato Bishop of Wellington, lent his garden at Devizes, and presiutd at a meeting held in a marquee last week, in aid of the Society for the Propagation of the Gosncl. A sale was also held in tho garden. Mrs. Stuart-Hawthorne, of Wellington, intends to visit Mecklen'ourg-Stfelitz, and will also stay with relatives and friends in Bath and Paris. Her health has greatly improved since bor arrival in England. Mrs. C. J. Monntfort, of Christchnrch, arrived a few days ago by the Omrah, and returns by the Urania in October. She is visiting friends and relatives, with some of whom she will go abroad in August. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. D. . Trotter, of Southland, arrived at Naples a month ago, and have since visited Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, and Franoe. They intend visiting Scotland and Ireland, and then America. The Misses Smith, of Gislorno and Dunedin, after staying with relatives in Bristol for three weeks, arrived in London on June 30. On Saturday they join a yachting party to Norway, and will visit Wales, Scotland, and Ireland in September. •Mr.- Fv. E. M'Dougall, of Christchnrch, spent a week or two in the Riviera, and a week in Paris before arriving in Loudon, where he intends to spend nbput two months. He returns via America, leaving London by the Olympic for New York on August 28. Mr. A. E. Potter, of Napier, who arrivod in May,- leaves shortly for Scutland, and will afterwards travel in the south of England. He will leave for New Zealand by the Orsbvain November. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Sutherland, of Wanganui, arrived by the A theme on June 3 and return by the Otranto on September 27. They have toured tlio South of England, and they leave for Scotland nest week, going as far north as the Orkneys. August they will spend on the Continent. Mr. G. W. Cnllender, of Wellington, is visiting the Old World to pursue his study of architecture, and for that purposo intends spending some time on the Con tin! ent as well as in Great Britain before returning about two years' hence to Wellington. He will spend August in Oxford and Cambridge. Mr. and Mrs. Fergus Macleod, of Auckland, : arrived a week ago, and left for Scotland this week. They will also pay a short visit to Ireland, and return to London in September, before spending a short time on the Continent. They, expect to return to New Zealand towards the end of tho year, via Canada and the United States. Major A. R. Hislop, of the Now Zealand Garrison Artillery,' is at present in the Midlands on business. Later ho will probably take a run to the Highlands. On his return he goes to St. Petersburg and Moscow on pleasure, then visits London till the middle of October, and he expects to return via New York and the States to New Zealand. Mrs. William Taylor, of Auckland, and her son, Mr.. J. 0. Taylor, travelled via Vancouver, Canada, and tho United States to England. They leave for Yorkshire and Scotland to visit friends shortly, then go to Ireland, and intend returning to Auckland via Suez, joining their boat at Naples, after a visit to tho Continent, towards tho end of September. Dr. and Mrs. Charles Chilton, of Christchurch, who havo been in England and on the Continent since December, are going to Scotland, where they will stay till after tho British Association meeting at Dundee. The University of Glasgow has bestowed the honorary degrco of LL.D. upon Dr. Chilton. Last week-end, Dr. and Mrs. Chilton were the guests of Professor Poulton at Wykeham House, Oxford. On July 6 they were with delegates entertained at dinner by the < University of Oxford. Mr. and Mrs.. P. S. Tyler, of Wellington, who arrived by the Orontes, had a sad affliction in losing tlieir three-year-old little daughter, Marjorio, . through convulsions, caused by sea sickness. They have spent the last fortnight at tho Potteries (Stoke-on-Trent) on business, and left last week for the Midlands, where they will be for about a month on' business. At the end of August they intend going through the Continent, connecting with the Otway in Sejtember at Toulon, and arriving m New Zealand early in December next..
