NEGRO MURDERER'S END. Br Telegraph—Pross Association-Copyright New York, August 25. At Springfield, Illinois, a negro chauffeur named Johnson, murdered a girl named Ruth Powers, and then committed suicide. Por a while there was every prospect of a repetition of the bloody race riots four years ago. The people, would not believo that the man had committed suicido, but the coroner (Mr. Rhoades) averted trouble by announcing that the people could view the body of the murderer.
