AN EMOTIONAL SPECTATOR.
■ AT RANFURLY SHIELD MATCH. (By Tclcgraph.-Spccial Correspondent; Auckland, August 2(1. Usually tha great British publio aro credited with talcing their pleasures sadly, —it is tho ebullient Frenchman who is popularly supposed to let his feelings get tho better of him in oxciting moments. An incident at Epsom on Saturday in tho Wellington v. Auckland match, however, showed that the representatives of France have not a monopoly of tho enthusiasm of tlio world. After the Auckland tlireo-nuartor Mncky had grounded tho ball and notched the first try for tho local team, ono of the onlookers rushed from the crowd as Macky was walking back, and, throwing his arms round him most enthusiastically, kissed him on tho cheek. Both teams laughed heartily at tlio incident, but Macky ovidently did not want a repetition of tho performance, for ho scored tho rest of his tries at tho other end of tho ground.
