(Before Dr. M'Arthur, S.M.) COLLISION AT NIGHT. OWNER OF A LANDAU SUCCEEDS. 'At the Magistrate's Court yesterday Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., delivered judgment in the enso in which E. Morris, jun., undertaker, and John Reid, a driver, proceeded against C. Russell, motor-car proprietor, Chiistchurch, for damages allowed to hnvo been sustained as the result of a collision between Morris's landau and Russell's motor-car at the corner of 'Wellington Terrace and Bolton Street on the night of Juno 19. His Worship gave judgment for plaintiff Morris for .£55 7s. and costs, and for E-eid for Xi and. costs. KENT QLAIM FAILS. Mnry Ellen Young sued Alexander Ttcid, cordial manufacturer, for £5i ss. 6d. as rent. . ■ • . Reid counter-claimed for XJI 17s. Bd., and paid into Court ,£36 Is. lOd. in settlement of Mrs.' Young's claim. 1 After hearing evidence tho magistrate said, that ho considered that the full amount owing had been paid into Court by the .defendant. He entered judgment for the plaintiff for that amount, and ordered that the plaintiff should pay the defendant's costs. Mr. E. P. Bunny appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. ,T. J. M'Grath for the defendant. GENUINE MISUNDERSTANDING. Ulingworth and Caton, art metalworkers, claimed .£l9 Is. 7d. from Thomas and Co., Wellington. Plaintiffs alleged breach of agreement. • His Worship decided that a genuine misunderstanding had comc about. He gave judgment for the defendants. Mr. J. J.
