Messrs. Dalgety and- Co., Ltd., report having held thoir fortnightly sale at TJppor Hutt yesterday, when only a email yarding of cattle was submitted. Competition was good, however, and practically everything changed hands at the following prices Springing cows, £6 llfs. to £8; cowa in calf, £4 7s. 6d. to £5; springing heifers, £5 ss. to £6: two-year steers, £4 165.; bulls, £4 ss. Messrs. Dalgf 7 and Co. report:—At our Poimerston Gale yesterday there was a fair yarding of sheop and cattle. Jlixed hoggets, Us. 6d. to lis. 9d.;' ompty ewes, to 10s. 9d.j small weaners, 325.; heifers and calves, £3 155.; springing heifers, £5; cows in calf, £4. Tho New Zealand Loan and Jlorcaaitile Agency Company, Ltd., and Reduced, report;—At Paimcrston North on Thursday a fair entry of sheep and cattlc sold well at advanced prices. Cull ewes, 6s. Id.; aged ewes, in lamb, 10s, Bd. to 12s. 3d.; small owes in lamb, two-tooth. 17s. Cattle: Store cows, £2 lfo. to £3; cows in calf, £5 t-o £5 17s. 6(1.; cows with ca-lvos, heifers, £5 fe. to £6 Is.; fat cows, £6 7a. ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Chrlstchurcll, August 21. At Addington there were good entries of fat cattle and fat sheep and pigs, but 6mall entries in other departments. There was a fairly large attendance. Store sheep again sold well, and fat sheep maintained the previous week's values. Fat cattle showed an advance of about lfl. 6d. per head, and fat pigs yoro very firm. . Hoggots represented the larger proportion of another small yarding of store sheep, although in number showing an increase on the previous weok. Of the remainder the bulk were ewes, with a few pens of. wethers. There was a better attendance, evidently comprised of buyers anxious to securo store sheep, as there was again exceedingly good competition, with increased firmness in values all round. A few pens of four and six-tooth wethers sold exceptionally, well, and at prices ciuite .Is. per head in advance of recent sales, whilst other descriptions of wethers were firm at late rates. Hoggots wore unchanged, although firm at late quotations. Quotations were: Hoggets, good ewes, 16s. to 175., a pen of purebred Leicester owes being paaeed at 19s. 6d.; good wether hoggets. 14s. 6d. to 165.; others. 10s. 4d. for culls, to 13s. 6d. for very medium classes. Ewes: Nothing special pennod, 4, 6, and 8-tooth medium, 19s. lid. to 205.; 2 and 4-tooth, 225. 6d.; 6 and. 8-tooth, 216. 6d.; full and failing-mouth, 14s. Id. to 19s. 3d.; 2-tooth (ompty), 15s. ,7d.; and merino ewes, 14s. 3d. Wethers: Four and six-tooth (good), 18s. lOd. to 195.; 2, 4, ■ and 6-tooth (small), 17°.; 2-tooth (6ma.11), 10s. The yarding of fat sheep w®s a fairly large one, and was mado up of handy weight wethers, a larger proportion of ewes than of late, and a few pens of good merino wethers. ' The salos opened well, the butchers competing frcoly, as stocks were short on account of the small yarding last week. Pr ices Tuled on about the same level as at the last sale, ewes especially bringing good values. The competition of graziers for unfinished wothers materially assisted to keep tho market firm, and they took about 2000 at 18s. 6d. to 225. The range of prices was: Extra prime wethers, to 295.; prime, 21s. to 255.; others, 18s. to 20s. 6d.; extra prime ewes, to 2fis. 6d.; prime. 18s. 6d. 245.; others. 15s. 64. to 18s.; merino wethers, 15s. Bd. to 225. 10d.; hoggets, 15s. to 19s. 6d. , In the fat cattle section there was a yardin s of about 232 head, against 142 the previous week, and 224 oil August 7. Corapared with the previous week, the quality taken all round was inferior, although some good animals were offered. Notwithstanding this, however, the improved prices chronicled at the pale hold a week earlier were fully maintained, and in some cases exceeded to the extent of Is. 6d. per 1001b.. all classes selling freely. The range of prices for beef was 265. to 375. 6d. Steer* realised £7 15s. to £10 10s.; eitra, to £16 £10s.; heifers, £7 to £10 10s.; and cows, £5 17s. 6d. jto £9 7s. 6d.; extra, to £14. The yardiiig of storo cattle numbered about 200, but .despite a good market, a number of lines were passed, these including a number of 3-year steers. Fifteen-

Choppers realised £3 10s. to £6; heavy baconers, 70s. to 765.; extra, to 80s.: and lighter sorts, 555. to 655. (equal to s*d. per lb.). Jleaxr porkers brought 425. to 485.; and lighter, 365. to 40s. (eouivalenl to s*d. per lb.). Stores were in full supply, and the demand was exceptionally brisk, all descriptions beinoMgerly sought after. Laree sorts made 40s. toi 455. j medium, 30s; to 383.; and 6ma.1l P*?. 235. to 295. Woaners were very dear, .makfng 17s. to 225. BERKSHIRE DISPERSAL SALE. At Burnside to-day there was a small eutfy of fat cattle, 150 head being va-rded. A few pens consisted of very, heavy bullocks, and the balance included a fair selection of good to prime bullocks, and a moderate offering of cows and heifers, following on the short supplies last week, prfces showed a further advance. Prime wethers, 225. 6d to 205.; extra prime, to 295. 9d.; medium 20s. 6d. to 225.; light, 17s. 6d. to 195.; best eweg, lfo to 205.; extra heavy, 225. to 285.; light, and aged, 12s. 6d. to 14s. 6d. Fat. lambß: 700 came forward, consisting principally of quality unfit for freezing and prices were slightly easier for prime! nut there was a good demand by graziers for well-grown lots.
