In a fifteen round contest for the professional light-weight championship of/ New Zealand, Len Porter,' of Hastings; defeated Peter Cook on points. The contest went the fall 15 rounds at a merry pace all the way. Porter was the cleverer, and did most of the leading, but Cook had an excellent defence. The verdict ivas popular with tlio onlookers, numbering over a -thousand. Watchorn, of Palm-. erston,'-easily beat Mfnifie, of Wellington, in the welter-weights in a sixlound contest. Light-weights— J. Imsell (Palmerston North,) ' beat Twoiney (Wellington) in six rounds. Tivomey \ras disqualified ia tho fifth round for holding Mr. Sampson, of Wellington, was the judge. . ■
