Wellington pressed their opponents in tho first five minutes, but Bay of Plenty rallied, and a mull on. tho .part of a back allowed Darby to score near the corner Bay of Plenty, 3-0. An attack by it'iTarlane and Ramsden. was stalled off, but, soon after, Wilson nipped round, scoring right under the posts, M'Farlano converting. Wellington, 5—3. E. Pato-n then made a splendid run, falling near ■ the lino. The visitors continued to press, and Rongo Nuku put in a good kick, and fnmbling enabled Douglas to obtain 'possession, and score from amoleo otn the line. Bay of Plenty, &-5. A free-kick gave M Fal'lano an unsuccessful shot, and a hot scrambling attack followed, a penalty ovontually enabling M'Farlnne to goal, Wellington, 8-6. The visitors now tried passing, tho ball travelling from Skinner to Hills to M'Farlano to Moffitt, and then to M'Konzio, who scored at tho corner. Wellington, 11— G. From this out Wellington had the better of the play. More passing among tho backs almost succeeded, and shortly after, out of loose play in front, Elliott got over, M'Farlane converting. The spell ■ ended with the score: Wellington, IG-β. In the second spell Bay of Plenty played up, their backs occasionally showing good passing, but the visitors were superior both in the backs and forwards, and ultimately won by 21 points to 9. ,-..' : MANAWATU-NELSON. •- Palmerston, August 21. The represe-nrative football match, Ma--nawatu v. Nelson, was played here to-day, and resulted in a win for Manawatu by 13 to 16. ■'•■•.. ASSOCIATION. . ■ TWENTY-ONE YEARS OLD. TV.F.A.'S ANNIVERSARY. Twenty-ono years ago this season tho 'Wellington lootball -Association, commenced operations as a constituted body, and, Inst night, a dinner and smoko concert'swere held to celebrate the occasion. It was in ISB9 that tho first i-ieetin» of any kind was held, and on April 3 of that year a club called tho Rovers was formed, i From then until now the game hns gone ' ahead, till, at tho present time, thsro are 89 teams playing the gamo in Wellington. The New Zealand Football Association was formed ■ in 1891, tho founder being Mr. TV. Henderson. In 1901, -when Mr. ■ B. L. Salmon took up tho duties of secretary,, there were only four associations ■affiliated with tho parent body. Now . there are 12, consisting of 350 teams, and between 3500 and 4000 registered players. At lost evening's function/ Mr. C. P. Skerrett, K.C., presided. There- were about SO present, including many pioneers of tho game in Wellington. During tho course of the evening the following toasts were honoured:—"Tho Pioneers," proposed by Mr. J. /J. Roberts and responded to by Messrs. T. Shields and E. H. Davenport,; "The Parent Body," proposed by Mr. TV. Monckton and -spqndod to by Mr. B. L. Salmon; "Ourselves," proposed by Air. H. M'Kcowcn and responded to by the president and secretary. (Mr. A. Williams); "Absent Supporters," proposed by Mr. H. L; Godbor; "Boy 3' Football," proposed by Mr. TV. Duncan and responded to by Sir. C. K. Dick; "Our Referees," proposed by Mr. J. B. Paton and responded to by Mr. A. F. Newbold. --■ The following contributed to a musical -programme:—Messrs. C. Hickmott, H. G. Mayer, H. Graves, TV. F. Connors, H. N.' Fletcher, C. J. Houston, and Dr. Isaacs. The accompanist was Mr. H. C. TV. Blick.
