CHURCH MEETING.
1 ST. 'JAMES'S (PRESBYTERIAN). Tho annual meeting of the. congregation of St. James's Presbyterian .Church was hold in tliiO schoolroom last) evening. Thero was a largo, attendance present, tho elders and deacons bcinpf -well l'oprcsented. The Eov. W. Shirer presided. A motion was unanimously passed expressing ' appreciation of the work riono by General Booth, and also expressing sympathy with the Salvation Army in their bereavement. The annual report and balance-sheet .is Printed was adopted, on tho motion of [r. Davidson, session clerk. Appreciation was expressed of the valuablo work done by tho visiting social committee, and the progress fkow.n in church extension work by tho inclusion of Island Bay in the homo mission charge. Up till recently the Island Bay Church has been united with St. James Church, but now it is under tho now. district, which' includes Mirainar , and Seatouu as well as Island Bay. Tho Rev. W. Shirer and tho Session of St. James are in charge of tho new district. Jfr. Harvey lias been appointed homo mifi-ion agent for the district. During tho evening items were rendered liy tho choir, under tho leadership of Mr. Gcoirc. . Reference was made of the importance of extending a cordial welcome to newcomers and visitors. On the motion ofiMr. Lewis, tho meeting was adjourned until Wednesday next for tho consideration of the new Church Praise, and ulso other important business.
