MINIMUM WAGE ACT.
MINERS MUCH DISSATISFIED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright ' - - : (Rec. August' 18, 5.5 p.m.) London, August 17. The Miners' Federation Conference has passed a resolution expressing strong dissatisfaction with tho working of the Minimum Wage Act, particularly because, with a few exceptions, tho awards have not given all underground workmen fivo shillings n day. Some of tho awards require 100 per cent, of attendance to qualify for tho minimum, and many owners aro stated to be seriously delaying tho payment of arrears under tho awards.
