"BEST MATCH OF THE WINTER," WELLINGTON AND WANGANUI DRAW. (By Toleiraph— Press Association.! Wanganui, August 18. Glorious weather prevailed on Saturday when Wanganui and Wellington representatives met under Northern League rules, and an exciting game resulted in a draw— fourteen points each. ' It was the best League match seen hero this winter. Wanganui eoninieiiced a vigorous attack, and Hogan and Buckland scored tries, neither of which wero converted. Then Irvine scored by the posts, and converted tho try, for "Wellington. Almost immediately afterwards Gilinour got in a. great run, and scored, though collared by Smith on tho line. He took the kick, but failed. The score was: Wellington 8, Wanganui 6, at half-time. As a result of a. good passing bout by Wilson, Hartnett, and Bradley, the last-named got over near the corner. The try was not converted. A little later B. King ended a good forward rush by scoring. Wellington, 11; Wanganui, 6. Wanganui kept up a strong attack, and from tight play in Wellington territory the ball travelled along the Wanganui rearguard to Robinson, who dived through behind the posts. Hogan converted. The nest 6core was obtained in a similar manner. Jnst as time was called, Robinson again crossed the line, amid much applause. Final: Wanganui, 14; Wellington, U. BIG AUCKLAND WIN.
