EXCITING FINISH. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Palmerston North, August 17. The representative Rugby match, Wangonui v. Manawatu, resulted in a win for Wanganui by 20 points to 17. The first spell ended six all (two penaltygoals by Hughes for Manawatu, and tries by Takiranga and Dustin for Wangauui). In the second half, tries were put on for -Wanganui by Tansey, R. Meuli, and Collier (two). The first of Collier's tries was converted by Brown. The scorers for Manawatu were Eglington (Hughes converted), Frame, and Bennett, In tho last quarter of an hour there was great excitement. Manawatu "were only six when Wanganui had reached 17, and in a comparatively short spaco of time the home team actually succeeded in equalising the scores. The deciding score was obtained within the last two minutes. NELSON BEATEN. MATCH AT PAHIATUA. (By Telezrapb—Pre3B Association.) Pahiatua, August 17. The representative match, Bush Districts 'v. Nelson, was played here to-day, and it resulted in a win for Bush by 11 points to nil. Bush played with a favourable wind, in the first spell, and scored three tries, Bateman, Pilkington, and Morris crossing the line. Morris converted one try. In the second spell play went in favour of the visitors, who pressed Bush on several occasions; A feature of the game was excellent line-kicking by the Nelson backs. Tho fine day and the dry ground suited the visiting team. JUNIOR.FIXTURE. WELLINGTON BEATEN AT LEVIN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Levin, August 17.
