POLITICAL NOTES.
The Minster for Defence is to to asked by Mr. Robertson, M.P., to reconsider the answer, given to tho member for Christ - church North to stop the prosecution or lads for refusing Territorial service until ?r n ■ ° as tho law has beei i altered. Mr. Robertson appends to his question tho following note:-"This postponement does not involve, as the Minister seems to think it does, tho non-punishment of offenders, it only means tho postponement ol that punishment until such.time as the law is amended." Mr. Escott, member for Pahiatua, is to ask the Minister.for Finance whether he will amend the banking law so as to allow banking institutions other than those now operating, to carry on business in Now Zealand. Petitions from branches of the New Zealand Sports Protection League, asking tor ati increased number of racing davs and tho publication of dividends after races havo been run, are still being received by tho Houso of Representatives. Yesterday two petitions wore handed in, ono from the Hamilton branch, which has 120 members, and tho other from tho Invercargill branch, which has 1006 members.
