TRAMS FOR ONSLOW?

TO KAIWARRA AND KGAIO. Councillor Dingwall moved at the meeting of the Onslow Borough Council last .night that the council should ask Mr. W:.'H. 1). Bell, M.P. for Suburbs, to introduce- a deputation to tho Minister for Railways "with"reference to electric tramways into the Onslow Borough." Councillor Dingwall said that thero ought to bo a train service to Kniwarra, which was an important industrial suburb. He added that if tho WodestownNgaio bridge proposal materialised it would be an easy, matter to got trams to Ngaio.. Councillor Stafford said that it would be best to ask for- the removal of the embargo against the introduction of electric traction to tho Ilutt Pond.

It was suggested that the Wellington City Council should move 1 in tho matter.

Councillor Stafford pressed his point. He said that at present thero was a statutory prohibition against any electric traction being introduced on tho Hutt Head. As thero were economical systems of electric traction other than the kind owned by tho city, it would bo an important step to'get the prohibitive clause removed from the Act.

The motion was amended in the direction suggested by Councillor Stafford, and was carried.
