A private letter from the United States says, that the captain of the Californian (which was near by, but failed to give aid to the Titanic) has been dismissed, and the captain of the Carpathia, which re ? l l u l t!le su rvivors, has been covered with honours. Besides being presented with ten thousand pounds cash and several loving cups, ho was also awarded a Congressional medal. This honour is omlv given by special Act of Congress, and taptain Kostron is the seventh man in the history of America to ; receive the medal. Even Admiral Dewey did not get it.—Press As&ciatian.
