THE SMALL ADVENTURER.
DISCOVERED ON '" ■When the Tahiti was one day out from Sydney to Wellington an "unauthorised" boy named Willie Fiiuielley was discovered on board. Tho passengers and crew had been counted up on Sunday morning by the purser and it was then found that there was one over tho number accounted for, and this proved to be "Willie." The lad, who is a bright little fellow, U years of age, when brought before Captain Evans, was quite frank and stated that ho just walked on board on, Saturday and had lunch, and did not go ashore again because ho wanted to be a sailor. Ho expressed a desire to work and was forthwith given employment in tha ship's hospital, and about tho decks. Thero had been, as for as could be discerned, no attempt at stowing away. While questioning tho youth Captain Evans learned that he had received somo 14 months' training on a Government training ship nnd his home address was 115 Belmont Road, Alexandria," Sydney.. Captain Evans immediately dispatched a wireless message to the boy's people informing them as to what had taken place. "Willie" was subsequently placed on board the Manuka and is now on his way' back to Sydney. It seems that Captain Evans was rather taken witli the lad and if he still has a desiro to become a sailor, he will i> 9 riven an opportunity the next time the Tahiti is at Svdiicv.
