SEAS SWEEP S.S. TAHITI.
ONE OF THE CREW INJURED. The voyage of tho Union Company's R.M.S. Tahiti from Sydney to Wellington was not an uneventful one. On Monday morning last about half a dozen members ot the crew were on tho forecastle head making fast ventilators and other gear when the vessel took what was described as a, tremendous sea right over tho bows. Ihe weather at the timo was fairly rough, and there was a moderate, variablo galo blpwing. When tho first "sea" came along tho ialnti rose easily to it, but tho second caused damage. It is, in fact, estimated iully fifty tons of water came ■ pouring on board. All the men on the forecastle head received minor injuries, but one—tin ordinary seaman- named W. Mason—was taken up by the force of tho water and thrown underneath the anchor. He sustained a fracture of the left thigh. Tho injured man was placed in tho ship's hospital and attended to by Dr. Bavis, ship's surgeon. Un arrival at Wellington- yesterday the injured man was removed to the city hospital.
