WOMEN'S EMPLOYMENT.

The "Labour Journal," issued yesterday, has the following report on employment. for women:— ."During the month just ended the following applications from employers have been received:—Charwomen, 55; domestic workers, G7; waitresses, 10; ladyhclps, 5; married couples, 3; housemaids, 22; cooks, 13; housekeeper,' 1; kitchenmaid, 1; nurses, G; factory hand, 1; laundress, 1: total, . 185. From employees—Charwomen, 30; domestic workers, 14 j ladyhelp, 1; cooks, 5; housekeeper, 1; housemaids, (1; kitchenmaids, 2'; factory hand, 1; waitresses, 4; total, 70. From theso the following engagements were made— Charwomen, 36; domestic workers, 13; ladyhelp, 1; cooks, 4; housekeeper, 1; housemaids, G; kitchenmaids, 2; nurses, 2; factory hand, 1; waitresses, 4: total, 70. A hundred and ono engagements were divided between 3G charwomen. Thero were 25 married women who applied for work, and 45 single; 57 came from the Xorth Island, 4 from the South, and 9 from Great Britain. The steamers Potorua and lonic were met as usual, but very few of the immigrants found their way to the oflice." ,
