BORN ON CULLODEN FIELD.
AND SAW "HISTORY" AFTERWARDS. (By Toloerapli.—Press Association.) Palmerston, August 13. The death occurred to-day of an old resident named William " JTraser. Deceased was 81 years of age, and enjoyed excellent health until about n week ago, succumbing finally to aneurism of tho ' JOln on " 10 famous battlefield of Culloden, in Inverness, and first came to the colonies fifty-seven vears ngo. Ho landed in Jlell)ournc, and*took' part in tho Uureka S'<ockadc aifair, subsequently coming to Dunedin, and afterwards participating in the Gabriel's bully and other noted ' gold rushes. i o ,'] we 'J t ollce m °i'o to the Victorian' goldfieids, and back again to Otago nnd ' ollowiu g ( ho vicissitudes of tho fields. Tiventy-threo years ago ho camo to l'almerston North, and settled here, engaging in storckeepiug and other pursuits until his retirement some years ago. Mrs. i'raser survives him.
