WANGANUI HARBOUR DISTRICT.

COUNTRY PROTESTS. The constitution of the proposed new rating area of the Wanganui Harbour Board is meeting with opposition over a large part of the district which it is proposed to include. In The Dominion on Saturday particulars were published of a petition to tho House of Representatives which has been largely signed in Marton and Huntervillo. To-day Mr. E. Newman, M.P., will present a similar petition which has been signed b.v every ratepayer in the town of Mangaweka. This petition bears 46 signatures. The petition is also being circulated in tho Rangitikei county where it is estimated that something like 1000 signatures will bo obtained. Settlers of the Upper Wangaehu Road Board district are also preparing a petition.
