BEEKEEPERS' CONFERENCE.

CLOSE OF THE PROCEEDINGS. The Beekeepers'- Conference was brought to a. closo on Saturday morning. The president (Jtr. Jaeobsen) suggested that a cliauso should bo made in the headquarters. He had not the slightest doubt that-there-were members in the Nor,th Island equally able to cany out the work, and a northern location would, ho thought, suit quite as well. Mr. C. Teed held that the headquarters should be at Christchurch, and he moved in that direction. After some discussion the motion was carried. The matter of the date for the next conference was left in the hands of the executive. Mr. Jaeobsen was re-elected president and .Mr. E. G. Ward secretary. The name of Mr. Adams was added to the committee set. up to remodel the constitution. Mr. I. Hopkins expressed pleasure at having met the. conference. He had endeavoured throughout to forward the interests of beekeepers, and trusted that his efforts had not been altogether unsuccessful. ~...-. ■ The president stated that an attempt had been made to arrange for a deputation to the. Prime Minister, but Mr. Mas-, sey had his time, so fully occupied that he could not received them, and they would therefore have to put their request in writing. , The president added that when they brought : their requests before the Premie* they should be empowered also to approach the High Commissioner, in order to get him to look after the beekeepers' interests at. Home, in the same manner as was done in regard to butter and meat. ' ;■ It was decided that as the Prime Minister's, unable to receive a deputation they instruct the executive tu write fully to him, and also to the High Commissioner, and explain in detail what the federation desires." Votes of thanks were passed to Mr. T. W.-.Kirk, head, of, the Orchards and Apiaries Division of the Department _ of , Agriculture, and' Ijis. staff for the .assistance they had . given the conference. Votes of thanks were also passed to the secretary (Mr. Ward) and to the president (Mr. Jaeobsen).
