Dotaila of the Kochana niassacro show that tho town was lull, it being market day. Tho first explosion took placo in tii'o bazaar, killing eleven people. Tho second, which occurred five minutes later, caused indescribal)lo panic. Bauds of Mussulman, armed with guns, revolvers, and clubs, butchered Bulgarians for three hours under tlie eyes of tho authorities. When tho troops appeared, instead of arresting tho. murderers, they searched for Bulgarians until nightfall. It is estimated that MO were killed, tho number wounded being unknown. Next morning, a hundred bodies were laid out in tho courtyard of tho Bulgarian church. No arrests havo been made, except innocent Christians. London, August 9. "Tho Times's" Vienna correspondent attributes tho Kochana massacre to Bulgar revolutionaries exploding bombs to provoke Mussulman reprisals, aud hoping to compel intervention by Bulgaria and ,tho Great Powers.
