Unionist newspapers declare that tho Master of Elibank stoutly resisted tho proposed land taxes, hence he was. sacrificed and created a Baron. Tho land taxers are now hoping for a clearer field. The Master of Elibank, heaving that tho miners intended to nominate their agent (Mr. Robert Brown) for Midlothian offered to ask tho prospective LibeTal candidate to stand for another constituency. The Master of Elibank hopes to return to politics in five years.
