TO BREAK RACING LAWS. A,meeting of tho executivo of tho Sports Protection League was held last night, Mr. C. W. Tringham occupying the chair. After a discussion tho following resolutions were unanimously carried: — 1.-That tho support of the Wellington branch of the league be given to any proposed legislation providing for a reasonable extension of the present nuinbei of racing days, and to any proposal to allot ,such number of days among racing clubs by some- definite tribunal such as tho, Dates Committee, appointed by tho New Zealand Racing Conference. 2. That the support of this branch of tho league be given to any legislation to repeal the presont prohibition against tho publication of dividends paid on a race in Ne\v Zealand or of the starting prices in respect of any race outside New Zealand, so as to permit the publication after the holding of. a race of the dividend paid or storting price. ■ PALMERSTON RESOLUTION. (By Telecraph.—Press Association.) Palmerston, August 9. The Palmerston North branch of tho Sports Protection Leaguo to-night resolved to support any proposed legislation providing for a reasonable extension of the present number of racing days, and any proposal to allot such an increased number of days among racing, trotting, and hunt clubs by some definite tribunal such as the Dates Committee appointed by the New Zealand Racing and Trotting Conference.
